I was very nervous before my first appointment. It had been many years since I even went to the dentist. The whole office really made be feel welcome from the moment I came in. They never lectured me about the fact I had lots of cavities.
Placing a filling is a very basic procedure, which any dental office should be able to do adequately. Unfortunately, this is not always the case; besides, you want great quality, not just adequate. Great quality is what you will find at East Wichita Dentist.
We prefer to use cosmetic, tooth-colored fillings for several reasons. Our patients like the way these fillings look, because they blend in with the tooth. Your tooth looks whole and healthy, rather than looking like you've had dental work done. Some dental offices continue to use silver fillings, but you won't find them here. We don't even stock the mercury or the silver to do those kinds of fillings in our office.
We do beautiful state-of-the-art, white (tooth-colored) fillings. Some dentists may have problems with white fillings, because they are a bit technique-sensitive. However, for a skilled dentist, they are trouble-free and beautiful. In our experience, these white fillings are every bit as durable and long lasting as old-fashioned silver ones.
For repairing a small cavity, white fillings are the best way to go. They restore the appearance of the tooth, and protect it from further decay. The bigger a cavity gets, the less likely a filling will be to do the job. A filling isn't a catch all treatment, capable of repairing any damage a tooth might incur. There are limits to what a filling can or should be used for, and what it can do for a tooth.
The longer you wait, the more decay spreads, and the bigger the cavity will get. If the tooth is too weak, or there is too much of it missing to reconstruct with a filling, you will probably need a crown. If the decay reached the soft tissues in the middle of your tooth, it can become infected, meaning you will need a root canal. This is one of the reasons to see your dentist at the first sign of trouble – while your tooth can still be restored with a simple filling.

Such an amazing dental office! The staff is so nice and welcoming. I felt right at home. They used sedation dentistry on me and it took all the fear from me and it didn't even hurt. I have never met a dental office that is so easy to talk to! Love them
