Such an amazing dental office! The staff is so nice and welcoming. I felt right at home. They used sedation dentistry on me and it took all the fear from me and it didn't even hurt. I have never met a dental office that is so easy to talk to! Love them!
We began doing sedation dentistry before it was known by that name. In the early 80s, it was simply an excellent way to help nervous patients get the dental care they need. Early on, we developed a philosophy about treating "cowards" by offering sedation, compassion, and the gentlest methods available. We see several sedation patients every week. There are more sedation practices in Wichita today, but few have the extensive experience and thorough training provided by the DOCS organization.
Sedation is used frequently to help patients get caught up with their dental care. People with dental fear will postpone going to the dentist until they get a toothache. When they get the tooth pulled it hurts because it was in bad shape, and fear magnifies the pain. This only re-enforces the fear, and it is that much longer before they go back. It becomes a vicious cycle, continuing until the patient has no teeth.
With sedation dentistry, we can stop that cycle. The stress and fear melt away, while we take care of dental problems, defects, and disease. We can get everything up to date and comfortable, as well as addressing any cosmetic issue the patient may have. Then all they need to do is come in for regular cleanings and checkups to maintain a beautiful, healthy smile. Breaking this destructive cycle has saved many people, and their mouths.
We understand how challenging dental fear can be, especially if you've had a bad experience in the past. Some of our patients can't bring themselves to get out of their cars once they drive in our parking lot. We work with them, helping them get inside and relaxed. Treating patients with dental fear requires more than just sedation. Not all offices have the deep compassion, mental aptitude, and gentle techniques that we have here at East Wichita Dentist.
